Henry David Thoreau

Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.

That about sums it up.

That about sums it up.

5/31/11

Food

Breakfast - Eggs with onions and peppers, blueberry Lara Bar

Snack - Almonds with dried cranberries

Lunch - Spinach salad with salami, ham, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and onions with balsamic

Snack - Paleo Kit (it had been a while since I’ve had one of these and lord almighty was it good)

Dinner - Pulled pork w/ some barbecue sauce, spinach and cabbage salad

Snack - Small apple

Workout

5 x 3 Front Squats - 1st 135, 2nd 155, 3rd 165, 4th 175, 5th 185 (10# PR)

WOD

3 rounds

400m run

15 pullups

6:24

Crushed the WOD, which I should have as my body was composed to do pullups and run.   I was much more excited about the front squat.  My last PR was at 175 not too long ago and I thought my head was going to explode (I’m only slightly exaggerating).

I started back on Paleo yesterday and I was super hungry today….so I ate lot.  Seems pretty simple.

Detox

After spending the last week and a half free basing sugar, I’m back!  I haven’t noticed a drop in my performance but recovery has been much worse.  Nice to see all of my friends on the wagon again.

Food

Breakfast - 2 eggs and bacon

Lunch - Chicken and a cornucopia of sausages provided by the lovely and talented Hulk!

Dinner - Apple, pecans and a protein shake

Workout

Buy in - .75 mile jog to the East River track

WOD - 4 x 800  1st 3:15, 2nd 3:25, 3rd 3:17, 4th 3:13

Cash out - .75 mile jog home

WOD felt good.  The second was just a bad job by me.  None of the times were overly impressive but I was working on pacing and would not let myself kick.  My kick is the strongest part of my running but I need to figure out a way to distribute it more throughout.  Next time, I’m going to push for 3:10 throughout.  I think this is very doable.
